Lenny Kravitz To Play UR1 Festival in Miami, FL
UR1 Festival is pleased to announce headliner GRAMMY winning and multi-platinum recording artist Lenny Kravitz, as the closing night performer for Sunday, December 9, 2012. His highly anticipated performance will be the epic culmination for the week-long celebration of the 11th Annual Art Basel Miami Beach.
Regarded as one of the preeminent rock musicians of our time, Lenny Kravitz has transcended genre, style, race and class into a 20-year musical career. He has been a musical force since his debut with the now iconic album, "Let Love Rule." His talents have resonated through nine studio albums into a timeless catalog, winning four GRAMMY Awards and selling over 38 million albums worldwide. His most recent studio release is the critically acclaimed "Black and White America."
Kravitz’s musical success has afforded him many opportunities to fulfill his creative vision beyond the recording industry. The artist appeared in a supporting role in the critically-acclaimed film Precious and the box office smash film “The Hunger Games,” as Cinna. He will reprise this role in the second film and also just wrapped shooting on Lee Daniel's “The Butler" (Weinstein). Both films are set for release in 2013.
The artist's creative firm, Kravitz Design Inc., which undertakes various high-concept projects with commercial, residential and product design, recently completed work on several notable Miami based projects. The firm headed up the creative for the 47-story condominium project, Paramount Bay in Miami and partnered with the SLS Hotel in South Beach to create an exclusive bungalow and penthouse suite for the luxury hotel. Kravitz is also an avid contemporary art supporter and collector and has frequented many Art Basel Miami activities since the fair's launch in the city in 2001.
Lenny Kravitz is among the over fifty artists on the bill of the inaugural UR1 Festival that is taking place at Bayfront Park in Downtown Miami. UR1 is a new breed of festival, that seamlessly merges the world of music, visual and performance arts as well as innovative technology. The festival's musical line-up ranges from today's biggest contemporary music artists in various genres, from rock, pop, hip-hop, EDM as well as up and coming acts.
